Ginseng Tea

Ginseng Tea

Ginseng has been highly prized in Asian medicine for centuries. It is known to increase energy levels, boost the immune system and help the body deal with the effects of stress. Studies have shown that ginseng can help lower incidences of influenza and colds, increase antibody titers and natural killer cell activity levels. Ginseng root is available to purchase from most Asian groceries. It’s easiest to use if you purchase a packet of dried, thinly sliced root segments.

Ginseng Tea

Ingredients

  • 3-5 thin slices ginseng root
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 tsp honey

Method

Pour boiling water over 3 to 5 thin slices of ginseng and let steep for 5 minutes—more if you prefer stronger tea, less if you prefer weaker tea. Ginseng has a slightly bitter flavor, so sweeten with honey if you like.
