Supported Fish Pose

Supported Fish Pose is a wonderful way to chill out and relax. It releases tension in the upper chest and shoulders allowing the breath to be slow and deep. In this way our blood pressure normalises, our heart rate slows and our whole body becomes calm and relaxed.  The release of the chest and shoulders has the additional effect of helping to correct a stooped posture, thereby benefiting the neck and thoracic spine.

Equipment needed:

A bolster or dense pillow or yoga block.

Either 2 cushions or a cushion and a yoga block.

Lets try it:

Lie down on a firm surface With the bolster or block lying horizontally under your heart area

Place the block or cushion under your head

Your arms are spreading comfortably out to each side above the bolster

If you feel too much arching in your lower back sit on a cushion.

Breathe slowly and deeply

Stay for at least 2 minutes

To come out of the pose roll to one side and help yourself up to sitting.

Hints:
