Wind Blown Tree Pose

This pose looks very simple but its simplicity hides all the work that’s going on in the core and lower back.

Benefits:

Strengthens the core and lower back
Releases tension from the side body.

Cautions:

If you have lower back conditions focus more on lengthening the spine than deeply bending.

Let’s try it

  • Stand in Mountain Pose with the weight evenly spread between both feet.
  • Inhale and raise the right arm and grow taller.
  • Exhale and lean to the left while keeping the front and back of the pelvis drawn in towards each other and the weight staying even on both feet.
  • As you stay in the pose allow your inward breath to help you lengthen your spine and open your top ribcage.
  • After 5 or more breaths exhale and inhale as you return to centre.
  • Exhale and lower your arm and repeat on the other side.
  • After completing the asana, close your eyes and feel the warm energy circulating around your lower and middle back.
