My yoga journey started in England when I was 16 years of age. I started looking for a new hobby/ sports to try as netball had been cut out of my timetable. My mum was going along to a yoga school in my home town and she took my sister and I along to a free class one day. The class was a red hot Ashtanga style class and we both found it quite funny but serious (I don’t think the teacher liked us much). However, I got over the giggles and quickly became a regular at the studio. It soon become my favourite activity and interest.
Soon after my introduction to yoga I travelled overseas during which time I enthusiastically continued my yoga practice and experimented with a variety of yoga styles.
Around the end of 2015, I came across ASMY and loved the style of yoga taught, the people and the fact that it incorporated meditation, making it a complete practice. Additionally, I loved the workshops, cooking classes and the amazing kirtan sessions. I was hooked! I knew this is the yoga I wanted in my life. I moved to the Gold Coast in 2017 and began my teacher training with Veda Yoga. I studied under the guidance of an amazingly experienced instructor and mentor – Margaret Doyle, who taught me everything I needed and wanted to know about yoga. I was grateful for my background as a gymnastics teacher which served me well in yoga discipline as well as understanding body movement. It was the best choice I’ve ever made. I knew within that becoming a yoga instruction was just perfect for me.
I am super excited to share my enthusiasm and love of yoga to ASMY and bring my passion and eagerness to share this wonderful gift into my classes. I especially enjoy teaching a slow moving hatha flow class, working on correct alignment and working with the breath. I hope to see you around at the ASMY centre.
