Yoga Teacher

I once was permanently sick, lethargic, depressed and miserable.

And you guessed it!  Yoga changed it all.

Over 15 years ago someone suggested that I try Hatha yoga to improve my health. However at first I was super sceptical of this idea. I was quite overweight and hated exercising.  I‘d tried different kinds of physical activities and always felt exhausted afterwards, so I was extremely surprised when after the very first Hatha yoga class I felt heaps better than before:  not depleted, but energised, in a better mood and nothing was aching the next day! That’s how my journey began.

Over time regular yoga practice taught me to listen to my body, make better food choices, get control over my health and habits, which was great, but the best was yet to come with meditation which taught me about my true self.

Looking after the body is important and essential, but we all crave inner fulfilment and happiness and that’s where Yoga holds all the keys to living the best life possible:  better psychical, mental and spiritual health are achievable through very simple practices that everyone and anyone can do.

At ASMY we are inspired to share this beautiful knowledge that fulfils our hearts and truly makes life easier and enjoyable on so many levels. Driven by examples of many volunteers a few years ago I finished Veda Yoga teacher’s course to be able to give back to community, because the more you give – the happier you become.

As an individual and a yoga teacher I focus on improving health via yoga. It’s amazing how doing an asana or pranayama you can simultaneously work on keeping your body fit, improving functioning of internal organs and nervous system, calm your mind and so much more. I also try to incorporate my knowledge of meditation, Ayurveda (have been working for an Ayurvedic doctor  over 8 years), psychology and sociology (I hold a bachelor degree) to make it more all-round experience which brings about balance.

Oh and I love good food so will be glad to see you not only on yoga mats but at ASMY’s kitchen as well,  we cook and feed people a lot – it’s a great fun, opportunity to serve and find life-long friends in the truest sense! So if you are interested to learn more about vegetarian and vegan cooking you are always welcome to come help me in the kitchen.

Namaste
