The proponents of an alkalising diet recommend reducing our intake of grains, legumes and seeds and adding a wide range of fresh nutrient rich vegetables, fruits and nuts. All meat and processed food as well as coffee, alcohol and refined sugars are said to have an acidic effect on the body.  It is advocated that by maintaining a slightly alkaline environment in the body, there will be a reduction of inflammation, better energy levels and overall better health and well being.

But apparently, diet is not the only way we can support alkalinity.  It is said that nervous tension, stress, lack of sleep and anger can all affect our pH levels by reducing the alkalinity within. Therefore, by reducing our stress response, stepping away from negativity and promoting relaxation, we can move toward better health.
