Please join us in a special night of joyous festivities, as we celebrate the anniversary of the auspicious appearance of an extraordinary spiritual personality, Sri Nityananda Prabhu. Nityananda appeared in India 500 years ago, alongside Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Together they inaugurated the congregational Kirtan movement – the practice of mantra meditation – which is now spreading throughout the world.
All of the great spiritual traditions of the world celebrate the appearance of prominent personalities who have contributed greatly in passing on eternal spiritual truths for the benefit of us all. Sri Nityananda Prabhu shared with us wonderful teachings, enabling us to uncover the divine spiritual love dwelling within the hearts of all souls. He showed us a practical pathway to self-realisation, and to real happiness.
Together, Sri Nityananda and Sri Chaitanya blessed the world with the chanting of the Holy Names of the Lord – the most powerful and sublime of all yoga processes. It is said that Sri Chaitanya is like the sun, and Sri Nityananda is like the moon. Although the sun and the moon are not usually present in the sky at the same time, by Their special mercy, Sri Chaitanya and Sri Nityananda appeared together to dissipate the darkness of material life:
“The appearance of Sri Krishna Chaitanya and Prabhu Nityananda has surcharged the world with happiness. As the sun and moon drive away darkness by their appearance and reveal the nature of everything, these two brothers dissipate the darkness of ignorance covering the living beings and enlighten them with knowledge of the Absolute Truth.”
~ Krishnadas Kaviraj, author of the great yoga literature Sri Caitanya-caritamrta.
We invite you to join us in celebrating the wonderful life and appearance of Sri Nityananda Prabhu, to express our gratitude and share a special evening of joyful kirtan and Vedic story telling.
The evening includes refreshments of Spicy Chai & Desserts.
Everyone is most welcome!
