Headstand – or Salamba Sirsasana – is widely regarded as the King of all yoga asana.
There are so many benefits to be had from doing this pose including:
- Relieving stress
- Increasing focus
- Improving blood flow to the eyes
- Increasing blood flow to the head and scalp
- Strengthens shoulders and arms
- Improving digestion
- Helping to flush out the adrenal glands
- And, not in the least, building up lashings of self-confidence along the way
Early in my yoga asana practice I tried headstand but was so overcome by this, what seemed to me at the time, unnatural posture that it took me a very long time to even try it again. It wasn’t until I was at a week-long yoga intensive a few years ago that one of the other teachers showed me a way of using props that I was able to get up there by my self – and I haven’t stopped since.
In this workshop we will start with a series of preparatory poses that will get our bodies ready. Then, when our bodies are ready, and we understand what we need to do, I will teach several ways, with different sets of props. I guarantee that by the end of the session everyone will be claiming their King of Yoga Asana crown!
So that I have plenty of time to spend with everyone, places are strictly limited to eight attendees. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
