What is Kirtan?
Kirtan meditation is the hearing and singing of mantras or sacred sounds. Weaving together music, melody and mantra, kirtan is an interactive experience which is both meditative and joyful. While meditation is often seen as a solitary practice of trying to empty the mind, kirtan meditation offers a powerful alternative—an easy and effective group meditation that relaxes the body, calms the mind and uplifts our hearts. Kirtan nourishes our deepest needs: inner peace, spiritual happiness, freedom from fear, and heartfelt connection with others and the Supreme Soul.
