Live Music – Special World Renowned Kirtan Artists

We have some very special kirtan artists appearing at Yoga Day Festival.  Pralad ‘n the Chants will be providing a fantastic variety of kirtan music from relaxed and gentle to spirited and uplifting.  Here we introduce you to the band members…

Eddie Hansen (Pralad das), world-renowned musician, composer and recording artist, is the lead singer and guitar player in the Chants. He was twice voted as Australasia’s best and most innovative guitar player. He has spent considerable time overseas recording and performing as an artist and session musician. He is well known for playing in the high-energy rock bands, Ticket, Spyz and Living Force.

Glen Absolum (Gauranga das) is undoubtedly one of the most experienced rock drummers in Australasia, twice been voted the best rock drummer there. He has played in renowned bands such as Underdogs, Space Farm, Australian Le Frame band, and Ticket, Spyz and Living Force. He has toured constantly for many years in New Zealand and Australia and played drums on numerous albums.

Bass player Naz, with his driving bass lines and rhythm is a rock solid foundation for the band. He is a keen yoga enthusiast, and loves playing Kirtan music. He also plays guitar and other instruments in his spare time and works in his home studio. Naz – “I’m living my dream playing in a band with the guys I was inspired by and always looked up to since I was a kid”

The West End Collective

The West End Collective offer a vibrant mix of music styles combined with sacred yoga chant to relax the body, calm the mind and nourish you the soul.  Featured kirtan leaders include Jayadharma, a popular yoga teacher whose smokey jazz influenced kirtan will have you tapping your feet and your voice soaring in response and Dale with a melodic and captivating voice that will lead you on an inward journey.

The experience of Kirtan is like no other, you’re not just listening to the music, the leader sings the mantra, everyone sings it back. Everyone is welcome to come sing and dance enthusiastically or simply rest your heart and mind in the transcendental sound.
