Our Yoga Asana Classes

Hatha Yoga Asana Classes

Hatha Yoga Asana classes increase flexibility, strengthen and tone muscles, balance hormones, cleanse and flush all the internal systems of the body, calm the mind and reduce stress. Our classes are non competitive and focus on safely progressing from easy to more challenging poses. Classes are suitable for all levels. All classes include kirtan, meditation and relaxation.


Hatha Yoga Asana Classes: Easy

Gentle stretching and breathing for every body. In this class you’ll gently loosen stiff joints and ease out aching muscles while soothing the nervous system and calming the mind. A wonderful class for pregnancy*, for those recovering from injury* or for those looking for a gentler, more relaxing class.


Hatha Yoga Asana Classes: Energy

Energy Asana classes combine strength, flexibility, focus and breathing. These classes will increase your aerobic fitness, invigorate your body and deepen your asanas. This challenging class is suitable for students familiar with alignment and muscle control.


Stretch & Relax™ Classes

Easy stretching for every body combined with deep relaxation, kirtan and meditation. This class is soothing and restorative, a great class for pregnancy*, those recovering from injury*, and seniors*. Free the body then calm the mind.


Yin Yoga Course

Yin yoga is an introspective form of Yoga that encourages deep relaxation.  By holding floor poses for longer, between 2 and 5 minutes, the muscles can release and so the dense connective tissues of the body are worked upon, improving range of motion and joint health.  The energy channels of the body are cleared and balanced, increasing harmony within your body and mind.


Morning Yoga Course

There are many benefits of starting the day with our morning yoga course.

  • It will keep you grounded and aid rational thinking – making for a peaceful day.

Jr. Joseph Renaud has taught and performed extensively around the globe.
He was awarded a Certificate of Achievement from the Guinness Book of World Records and was listed as the First Official World Limbo Champion.

To support the health and well being of individuals in our community, from time to time we offer various free or low cost yoga, meditation and relaxation classes.


*It is always best to consult your health care professional before commencing any new exercise program. If you are pregnant or have health concerns or injuries, please inform your teacher before commencing the class so they may guide you on how to safely practice.

Whether you are looking for mindfulness techniques, relaxation, stress relief, a more peaceful mind, or you’re wanting to delve deeper into meditation, we offer a variety of wonderful meditation and kirtan programs to choose from.

At ASMY, we offer kirtan & deep peace meditation™ classes for free, (donations welcome) because we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to receive the gift of meditation and experience the amazing benefits that it has to offer.

For the meditation courses we charge nominal $20 just to cover cost and it includes meditation starter pack.


Educational Courses

Workshop : Transform Your Life with Meditation

Meditation is a time tested and proven process that enriches, improves and enhances your life.
Use meditation to:

  • reduce stress and tension
  • increase your mental focus
  • gain a clearer understanding of yourself
  • help you to make better decisions in life
  • boost your ability to be self disciplined
  • help you exchange unhealthy habits for healthy life choices
  • develop positive traits such as compassion, forgiveness, tolerance and inner peace

This practical, hands-on workshop will give you the tools you need to transform your life with meditation.
This is a 2-part course running on 2 consecutive Sunday nights:

Part 1: Saturday 15 July, 4-6pm
Part 2: Saturday 22 July, 4-6pm

Cost: $20, cost covers meditation beads and refreshments. Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior.

Deep Peace Meditation™

Experience the deeply relaxing and restorative effect of yoga relaxation and mantra meditation. These ancient yoga practices can help you overcome stress and anxieties, helping to relieve tension and calm the mind. This class feels blissful and helps you to experience perfect rest and recuperation. Fully guided breathing, relaxation, kirtan and meditation will transport you to a place of pure relaxation of mind, body and heart.

Kirtan

Beautiful, heartfelt singing of sacred mantras accompanied by musical instruments like harmonium, guitar and drums. Kirtan is usually practised as a call and response with one person leading the singing and everyone else joining in afterwards. Participation in Kirtan focuses the mind very easily and naturally on the beautiful spiritual sound vibrations, which have the effect of reawakening one’s spiritual consciousness. Kirtan lifts the spirit and brings joy to the heart.
Kirtan is scheduled every Friday 7:00pm – 8:00pm and Sunday 5:00pm – 6:30pm. Its run by donation and everyone is welcome. Light refreshments served.
