The Australian School of Meditation and Yoga is a non-profit organization with centres in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Darwin.

When it’s comes to writing a succinct ‘about us’ page for the ASMY, it’s not such an easy task. There is so much to be said. Like so many other yoga schools we can start by saying that the real purpose of any genuine yoga practice is to help a person attain optimal physical, mental and spiritual well-being - but for us, this definition is more than just a trendy and clichéd tag line.

Whether you are interested in physical postures and guidelines for a healthy diet, some simple relaxation techniques or deep meditation; whether you are a beginner or someone who is just looking to fine tune your existing practice ~ we offer a variety of programs which will cater to your specific interest.

And for those who are looking for a more complete yoga experience, we also offer programs which are designed to help you understand what these three kinds of well-being mean in real life terms, and how are they related to each other. This is true yoga, this is quality yoga. It’s what the ASMY is really ‘about’, and it’s what our communities really need. The evidence for this is everywhere. As one of our teachers expressed it, Even in relatively affluent societies, where people have both the freedom and the means to pursue happiness in so many different ways ~ we find that loneliness, negativity and a lack of purpose, dissatisfaction, unhappiness, anxiety and other varieties of mental trauma are no longer considered to be unusual. They are quite ‘normal’, and especially in the last fifty years, previously unheard-of counselling services and stress management programs and so on, have been developed in order to deal with these increasingly prevalent afflictions.

In this regard, the way of yoga not only provides a thorough analysis of these problems, but also the natural means to transcend them.

To this end, and in accordance with the ancient traditions of yoga, the ASMY offers not-for-profit programs at it’s Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Darwin and Perth centres. Our qualified instructors are dedicated to presenting these programs in a relaxed ‘no pressure’ manner, or to put it another way, they are simple, enjoyable, and they can benefit everyone, regardless of their age or current physical condition.

And then of course, after learning the practices of your choice, you can continue them in the comfort of your home, and also if you like, come along to our regular sessions and enjoy the company of your fellow yogis.

The programmes of the ASMY are simple and enjoyable and can benefit everybody regardless of age or current physical condition. Our goal is to guide you to a more balanced lifestyle with an increased sense of wellbeing and vitality as your body grows stronger and more flexible, your mind calm—and bring a greater sense of ‘sacredness’ into daily life.
